Gullane Point, East Lothian

Event Date:

2nd February 2022

Event Time:

10:00 am

A gentle walk exploring a wild section of East Lothian coast.

THE ROCKS: This section of coast has lots of sand! Occasional rocky outcrops give us glimpses of the underlying geology, which includes layered sedimentary rocks from the Carboniferous Period and the impressive dolerite sill that forms Gullane Point.

THE WALK: From Gullane links we will walk along the shore, mostly on sandy beach with the occasionally rocky outcrop. I have classified this as a moderate walk: we will be walking on the beach and rough paths, where it may be rough or slippery underfoot at times. It may be wet, windy or cold. Come equipped with strong footwear and waterproof clothing.

MEETING POINT & ROUTE: Main car park at Gullane Links, East Lothian. Grid reference: NT476831| Nearest Postcode: EH31 2BE | What3Words: centrally.bottom.dialects | Route Map. Distance 6km.
