The wild Borders coast: Siccar Point to St Abb’s

Event Date:
18th February 2021
Event Time:
7:00 pm
The rocky coastline to the south of Siccar Point is one of the finest walks on the east coast of Scotland. Dramatic cliffs of greywacke sandstone plunge to inaccessible beaches, and everywhere you look there is evidence of intense folding and deformation associated with the closure of the Iapetus Ocean. The lonely ruins of Fast Castle perch on a rocky outcrop, and the whole area feels surprisingly remote, given that towns like Dunbar and Coldingham are close by. At St Abb’s Head, the coastal scenery, while still dramatic, has a different feel and the geology provides ample seabird nest sites.
